Assessment criteria
The assessment of Chevening applications focuses on four key criteria:
Leadership and networking skills
Applicants are assessed on their experience and style of leadership, their commitment to networking within the Chevening community and beyond, in order to find solutions or bring about beneficial change.
Academic background
Applicants are assessed on their educational achievements to date, their explanation of why they feel confident in their ability to successfully complete their chosen course(s) of study in the UK, and their reasoning behind their selected course(s).
Career plan and benefit to home country
Applicants are assessed on their immediate plans upon completion of their Chevening Award, asked to outline their longer-term (5-10 years) career objectives and explain how their time in the UK will contribute towards achieving these objectives. They should also explain how a Chevening Award would benefit them and their home country.
Personal statement
Applicants are assessed on their reason for applying to Chevening and on their description of the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities that make them well placed to be a future leader in their home country.
Applications for the 2016/2017 Chevening Awards open in August 2015.
